Mar. 11, 1945 - Apr. 4, 2017 Age 72, of Hueytown, made his peaceful transition to heaven on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. He was a member of Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church Edgewater where he faithfully served as a Trustee and a member of the Male Chorus. He retired from Oak Grove Coal Mine after working for 33 years. His parents, Eddie and Eloise Thomas, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 son, Danny Thomas, 1 daughter, Tamara Thomas and 1 granddaughter , Hope Cooper, preceded Mr. Thomas in death. James enjoyed watching football and being around family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory: A loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Barbara Thomas, of Hueytown; 2 daughters, LaToya (Melvin) Cooper, of Hueytown, Tabria Thomas of Hueytown, 1 brother, Larry (Nellie) Thomas, of Bessemer, 4 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, 1 grandchild, Kendal Rudolph and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. Visitation at Roberts Funeral Home, Friday from 4:00-9:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church, Edgewater with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens, Rev. Rodney Keebler, Officiating Minister. Roberts Central Park Chapel, directing.
