James Lawrence Thompson lovingly known as ""LT"" was born on October 22, 1941 in Bel Alton, MD to the late Lee and Mary (Bena) Thompson. Sunday, September 12, 2021 LT was called to his eternal home. LT was educated in the Charles County Public School System.
After working 36 years, LT retired in 2016 from Trading Post where he was a Dump Truck Driver. His health prohibited him to continue to work; otherwise he would have still been happily hauling. Prior to his employment with Trading Post, LT worked for his brother's Asphalt, Paving and Engine Repair company for 20 years. LT was a man who understood his role as a provider. He was married to his loving and devoted wife, Jacqueline M. Thompson, for 60 years and from this union, they had six beautiful children.
Daily there was a joke to be told, whether it was funny to you or not LT was going to tell the joke followed with a hearty laugh. He loved Fats Domino and was a musician himself. LT played the guitar, piano, trombone, and harmonica. He enjoyed singing to his wife and grandchildren and they knew his selections and would sing along. His dog, Co-Co, will miss him dearly as they were creating new adventures all the time.
In addition to his parents, LT was preceded in death by his son, Dwayne Thompson; grandsons, James Thompson Jr. and Joseph Thompson; sisters, Mary Thompson, Louise Swann, Ethel Wallace, Sara Ellen Proctor and Doris T. Proctor and brothers, John Alton and James Winfield Thompson.
LT is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Thompson of Morganza; children, Lynn Frederick of Loveville, JoAnn Guignard (Ronald) of Mechanicsville, James ""Brian"" Thompson Sr. (Debbie) of Lexington Park, Deneen Davis (Tim) of Hampton, VA and Devon Thompson (Tiffany) of Loveville; in-laws, Doris Thompson, Cheryl Gardner, David Proctor, Sherwood Proctor, Gerald Proctor, and Paul Proctor; grandchildren, Mark Frederick Jr, Whitney Jenkins, Devone Thompson, Mieka Baker, Agee Bond Jr., Brandon Davis, Janiero Thompson, Rondell Thompson, Craig Proctor, Jerome Proctor, Lynn Thompson, Danielle Thompson, Bianca Thompson, Candace Thompson, Lakisha Plunkett, Nicky Hawkins, and Keith Dickerson; a host of great grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews, and friends, who all knew they were loved dearly.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern, and kindness shown to them during this hour of bereavement. We will be forever grateful.
Family and friends will unite on Friday, September 17, 2021 for visitation at 10 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 29119 Point Lookout Rd, Morganza, MD 20660. Interment to follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
There will be fellowship at 28797 Point Lookout Road, Morganza, MD, following the service and interment.
