Dr. James W. Thornton passed away on Friday, October 15, 2010, in Baja, Mexico. He was in a plane crash on his way to do volunteer surgery with the Flying Samaritans, an organization he has been working with for 20 years. Jim was born in August 1951, in Oregon City, Or., to John Lyndon and Leona...
Christine, and family, it hardly seems that we have lost a great doctor and friend! Dr. Thornton has been sadly missed, but never forgotten. Our love and prayers will be with you always.

Dear Christine, I never met you but was a patient of Jim's for 13 years and certainly he grew to be a friend. I learned of his accident the night before leaving the country for a month, so was not able to attend his memorial to extend my deep sympathy to your family and talk to others who knew him and cared for him like I did. A wonderful and gentle giving man. I will miss his sense of humor, and his great look on life.
He was very supportive of my choice to move to Wyoming, and told me of his love of this state.
I will miss this great man.

My condolences to the entire Thornton family. I remember "Jimmy" when I would be at the Thornton home visiting my friend and his sister Lynn back in elementary school. How wonderful he accomplished so much and made the world a better place.
