Mr. Thornton was a great teacher and mentor for me, while I was a student at Shaker Heights High School. I will always remember all the joy Mr. thornton brought to our days during class and play productions. Thank you for everyhing you did for us : )

I am very grateful and honored to have been a guest artist teacher for his program. Sincere condolences to the family. He will be missed and remembered always.

With Deepest Sympathy to the Thornton family. Jim was a valued collegue, supportive parent and friend during my tenure at Shaker. May he rest in peace.

Linda Betley, HPE Dept Head

James Thornton was a passionate man, mostly remembered for his many accomplishments in the theater arts. I, however, remember him for his insatiable love of sweets (Heggy's chocolates and all things pastry), endearing love of sweet Pauline and his family and his constant endeavor to try to civilize and soften the Harold family through his example . . a task that proved to be futile, but we loved you for trying. Rest in peace, James, and God bless the Thornton family.

High School was a very difficult time and I often took refuge there; but is was not the room that was a draw it was JT and it felt like home.

Some how he sensed I was having a rough time and would give me words of encouragement and make sure I was included what ever was going on. I was stage manger and director for New...

Sending my most heartfelt condolences to the entire Thornton family. JT touched so many people during this (too short) life and no doubt he will be missed tremendously. I will be honored to join you on the 31st to celebrate his life.
