James William Toensing, 86, of Tempe, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at his home. Mr. Toensing, a retired engineer for a machine manufacturing company, was born on March 1, 1932 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Arthur Louis and Anna Toensing.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Toensing and is survived by his brothers, Evyn Toensing and Britton Toensing.
Private services will be held at a later date.

Jim was an amazing mentor of mine when I was growing up. He was our neighbor and I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated our many long talks over the years. He taught me much about the restoration of his prized race car and also taught me about the importance of thinking things through prior to actually acting on them. A special person in my life.

I worked with Jim turn on several of his project including the lid taper this machine put Remmele the map.

I have known Me. Toensing for about 10 years or so and I would call him my friend. I was introduced to him by a mutual friend Ann to do some landscape work on his house in Tempe. During the time I was doing the work on his house we would have many long talks about veried topics. Over the years I enjoyed very much my long talks with Mr. Toensing. He was a wealth of knowledge and and an even greater wealth of opinion. As with the previous letter this morning I decided to Google his name as I...

Jim was a fascinating gentleman. He used to stop by my machine shop quite often years ago, sometimes to have me quote on some parts he was designing and other times just to talk shop. He loved talking about engineering and machining and I loved soaking in the knowledge he had acquired over the years and chatting about his life. I had not seen or heard from him in many years and something I was reading triggered my memory of him. I decided to google his name this morning and ended up here...
