Not sure what to say?

This is Cindy Cupp from Georgia. I was telling a story about hosting Jim at Griffin RESA yesterday and looked him up on the internet to see what he was doing. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a remarkable man and he really made a difference in the lives of so many teachers and children.

I was so fortunate to hear Jim speak in Great Falls, MT. There was a terrible blizzard and few people braved the weather. I was homeschooling my four kids and that night changed my life. Now I am 68 years old and work in a bookstore. I see daily the positive influence he still has on young people reading. He was a gift to educators, parents and esp kids. Thank you, Jim Trelease for turning the youth of our country into readers!

Thank you, Mr. Trelease, for all the positive experiences your Read Aloud books brought to classrooms and to students at school and at home.

Sorry for your loss

Loved Jim Trelease´s "Read Aloud Handbook". Thank you for so many practical ideas. His thought that the reason children love to hear the same book over and over is the same reason adults like to listen to the same music over and over always came out of my mouth when I heard someone complain about re- reading a child´s book for them. Dan Wagner

I went to order Mr. Trelease´s last edition of The Read-Aloud-Handbook and that´s when I read of his passing; at this moment. I never met him but he was a wonderful influence to both my daughter and me. Why does it feel like an old friend passing? It gives me great pleasure to purchase his books and to share them with a colleague for her new grandson and daughter-in-law. His legacy continues throughout the generations and what a gift to us. Thank you Mr. Trelease and to you Mrs. Trelease...

Miss you Jim, yesterday, today. & tomorrow.

I just learned of Mr. Trelease´s death when I went to order The Read Aloud Handbook for my son and his pregnant wife. My first grandchild will enjoy a life of great literature because his Grammy met Mr. Trelease at a teachers´ conference. And I will get to revisit some of those remarkable stories and artwork!

To all in the Trelease family and to all parents, grandparents, teachers, librarians, and independent bookstore owners: We were all so fortunate to be touched by the joy Jim Trelease brought to our lives. His joy in sharing stories was infectious; his persuasive technique will never be forgotten. Jim's description of reading Wilson Rawls' Where the Red Fern Grows to his son as a boy was the best advertisement for reading aloud - ever. Jim was a good friend of mine (Maryland) and of my...
