My very first job was at The Across the street restaurant. And after college I had the chance to work at Throchtas! We decorated Harold's,Balliet's and 50 Penn Place for Christmas. We also decorated The Heart Ball, OMA Renaissance Ball, and Odyssey, The theme was Hollywood, I made artificial Palm Trees, and the Skrivn Plaza Ball Room was transformed into a tented desert oasis. When Jim opened the Silver Palm Room I had a meeting with him to determine where the Northwest Classen Cry-Slurs would be performing for a big conference (in the 60's). I was impressed as we walked through the kitchen with Jim's perfection and care of the food preparation. As the years went on I met with Jim several times as the Cry-slurs continued to perform at his establishments. When my husband, John , retired from teaching choirs at NW Classen I started working in the executive office...

Sad to hear of Jim's passing. Many times I would visit Trochta, just to kid with Jim. he always had a great sense of humor.
