Not sure what to say?

Six years plus since his journey rendered him propelled to a higher and more propitious sphere of life, I somehow have been thinking about him lately. I too find myself these days while at Mass asking whether in some way if could he please be present and concelebrate. His depth of intellect and profoundly positive spirituality spoke (and I daresy remains speaking) for itself. He saw me through some personal difficulty in the latter half of the 1990’s with a sagacity, understanding and...

Father Jim, the holy legacy you have left on this earth clearly precedes the impeccable clerical service you gave for our Lord. Your mentoring bolstered my motivation to carry that spiritual torch for holy mother, the Roman Catholic Church....we of the lay servants will perpetually support her to this moment and beyond...thanks!

He baptized me in December and he was the kindest soul I ever met struggling with heart problems for 3 plus years may God Rest his soul Amen

I will never forget Father Viall's kindness back in 1961 as a tearful 1st grader at St Raphael School. I had somehow fallen onto a carton of small glass milk bottles outside the classroom door. He kindly took me to the Rectory and gave me a great pb&j sandwich, away from my taunting classmates who saw me fall and assured me of God's love. Truly in every way, a Priest's Priest! I also recall driving to hear Mass with my Dad to St. Rose of Lima's - and both of us so moved at every homily he...

May Almighty God grant you Eternal Peace and Rest, Father Jim. Your time on Earth was well spent in the Service of the Lord as evidenced by your steadfast dedication towards Catholic vocations and family religious formation. Your direction with Consortium Perfectae Caritatis and Women for Faith and Family was a beacon of Hope in our age of confusion, violence and immorality. I will miss you, Father Jim, and will forever remember good times with you, memorable meals and your fine taste in...

Father Viall was such a faithful and wise priest. I remember his deep and meaningful sermons from my youth. He was a good family friend and he officiated at the Sacrament of Matrimony for my husband and me. May he rest in God's peace.

You are definitely in Heaven now My dear Fr Viall! Pray for us! You will be dearly missed!

Sincerest condolences to the family of Father Viall, and to those clergy of the Diocese of Cleveland who were close to the Reverend Father. Father Viall was a humble and deeply religious priest who very easily fit the George Bernanos description of the pious Padre in his Diary of a Country Priest. He was generous to a fault with his many thoughtful gifts of books, Papal Blessings, relics of Saints, and frequent dinner invitations to join him at special restaurants on the Feast Days of...

Sincere condolences to his family. My twin sister and I attended Saint Rose of Lima from grades two through eight. Great school, church, and Pastor. GOD Bless.
