My condolences to the Vreeland family and friends. I grew up with his kids in Kingston NY and was often at their house and spoke often with him and Joan. May his memory be a blessing.

What a great teacher "Bro. Gregory" was. I had him for a Philosophy course in the summer of 1965 at Oakdale while I was in the Brothers. He started with Socrates, or rather became Socrates - for a day or two - and then when he had us all believing in the Socratic method, he came in and became ... Plato... and a few weeks later he was Descartes and so on through all the great philosophers. I'm sorry to hear of his passing - he was an extraordinary man and teacher.

Rest In Peace Uncle Jim. You will be missed by many!

Jim, along with Frank Profitka, Henry Betz, Lawrence Higgins and I, Dominic Gisondo, entered the Christian Brothers Novitiate at Barrytown, NY together on March 9, 1951. Jim was always known for his wonderful sense of humor. It was a pleasure to be in his company. Eternal rest to you, Jim. Brother Dominic Gisondo
