James Vrettos

Jim Vrettos was a gentleman and someone who I had a great degree of respect for. My father and uncles were in the grocery business and knew the Vrettos family. Twenty years ago when I moved to Harbor House I became a customer of Evergreen Foods and Jim and I established a very good relationship. I was delighted when he chose to live in the same building as I did and we saw each other frequently. Even in his later years I would see him in the exersize room of the building taking an active part...

Jimmy was a special friend. We went through Cardiac Rehab at St. Joseph together and he bought me into Rotary. A kind and gentle man.

To the Vrettos family: Sincere sympathy and condolences on the loss of your Dad. Jim was one of the first people who welcomed me to the neighborhood when I moved back to Chicago, across the parking lot from the Evergreen store. He always had a kind word and smile for me and called me, "Nursie" - both he and Monica were very special to me and I am so sorry to lose my friend.
