Not sure what to say?

I think about Mr. Walbert every time that I sit at my piano.. As a young woman I decided to find a piano teacher to take me further with my life lessons. A friend suggested Mr. Walbert. It never occurred to me that my piano playing could fill our home with such amazing sound. He taught me things that I never imagined. It was very hard work. I still have the sheet music that he wrote for my lessons.
My condolences to his family. He truly was an amazing teacher. I'll remember my...

Hi Eileen,
This is John (Johnny) Linn, Marjorie Linns youngest son. I thought of you and Jim today (9/14/19) and wondered if you were still living here in a Birmingham (Homewood) so I first googled Jim and got his obituary from mere days ago.
I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you are doing well. I saw you on the film loop at the Civil Rights museum and I think of you from time to time.
Life has been good to me. I recently retired early from Southern Nuclear after 38 years....

The best piano teacher I ever had. And, I had some great ones, including at the Birmingham Southern School of Music. I played with some great gospel quartets and singers because of the things he taught me.

I took piano lessons from Mr. Walbert in the late 1960's. He was a great teacher and person and will be missed.

I studied music from James D in the late '40's. He was a wonderful man and an excellent teacher. The gospel techniques I learned from him enabled me to accompany quartets on both radio and TV in my state. I also was church pianist for several different churches over the years. I will always remember him fondly. He will be missed by many. My condolences go to his lovely wife, Eileen and his children and grandchildren.

I first knew the name, Jim Walbert in 1946 when I played many records containing his name, as I worked as an announcer at a small radio station in Jasper, Alabama. The very next year, I was to meet the man himself as I began employment a a Birmingham station that was wise enough to broadcast a live program EACH DAY of Jim's delightful variations of popular and classical music. Can you imagine such a thing in this era?

I was lucky enough to come to know the man himself and learn of...

My most sincere condolences to a wonderful family who will always have a special place in my heart.

I have always loved gospel nusic and have heard all the people mentioned here and I want to say Mr. Walbert was quiet a man and I will be keeping his family in prayer., Terry Harpole Maben, Mississippi

Mr. Walbert was my piano teacher from 1993-1998. He was truly an artist! I owe so much to him. I am pianist at my church, and much of my life revolves around gospel music. I can't begin to fathom how different my life would be had I never met him!
