Not sure what to say?

I have thought of him often over the years. He was a beacon of light amongst all the other teachers and, in my opinion, rose above and beyond what most teachers offer. He cared for us as individuals with such a heart. I am forever grateful to have had him as a teacher, especially at that period of my life. He remains luminous to me.

Sorry to hear of your lose but it is also our lose. Mr. Wallace was a great art teacher at Roger Rogers Vocational in Gardendale. I had him in the late 60's and early 70's. Everyone just love him for his humor.

I was a student of Spud's way back when at Gardendale. He taught me to be passionate about art, if that was your true calling but don't ruin the name of art if your just doing it for a grade. I am so sorry for your loss.

I remember Spud and Jimmy from Gardendale Vocational School. I was actually wondering about Spud not long ago. He was always smiling and he was such a great encourager. I noticed he always seem to take a great interest in his students and I felt like I missed out by not having him as a teacher due to my lack of artistic talents. He made an impact on me just by being there. His legacy will live on through so many lives. I pray that the sorrow his family and friends feel will in time be...

Spud was my art teacher in high school. He was a wonderful teacher and always encouraged all of us.He took time to listen and to care. I am so sorry for your loss.

This man was a major reason for me graduating high school. He saw talent and abilities in me that I didn't. He believed in me when I didn't. I have thought of him many, many times over the years. He changed my life and I will be forever grateful. I did not stay in the art industry but art is still a major part of my life. I was blessed to have known him. My sincere condolences to his family. I know you must have many wonderful memories of him, he was certainly one of a kind.

I have lived through art all my life and it was Spud who taught me I could do it even when I felt it was a lost cause. When really hard emotional times set on me in high school, Spud was the one who helped me through it. I loved him, respected him and now will miss him even more.

Spud showed me that real art came from inside you, and expressing it was a craft. He was my vocational art teacher, but more than that he was my mentor and he taught me how to be a mentor. Thank you to his whole family for sharing him with so many. Real wealth is measured in how many lives you touch and effect, and in that Spud Wallace was one of the wealthies men I have ever known.

My heart goes out to you Minta and Jim, and all your family. It was truly and honor to get to know him through you Jim. Your love ,devotion and admiration of your father was truly wonderful. God loves you both as I do.
