I took two graduate classes from Jim at Lewis and Clark College. He was very affirming of me as an activist and a teacher. I remember his kindness, enthusiasm, and humor.

He was a dear friend to me. He was always inspired and inspiring. His wit, optimism, and kindness was a great gift to me over the fourty plus years that I knew him. I will always be grateful for him. My sympathy to all his beloved family, I know how much you'll miss him. We all will miss him. His light will always be with us.

Jim served as my mentor while student teaching at Cleveland High School in 1984. He helped me become a teacher by being supportive and critical. I just finished my teaching career a week ago, but I never would have been a teacher without Jim.

with deep respect, heck: love! - - bushels of gratitude, and awe of your expressiveness, joy and enthusiasm, and support... major and lasting impacts on my teaching and related life

Light from My Love

Jim, Your undying spirit is still with us. We will always remember you with deep affection and the greatest respect.

Mount Monadnock, NH

Jim was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He was a good co-host even when extremely busy or going through grief. He was a great man who influenced the course of history. He was from the same town I spent time in as a child, Wolfeboro, NH, which was a bond we shared. My deepest sympathies with Mary G. and entire family.

Thank you, Jim, for your wit, your intelligence and your lovely family.
You are missed and will be missed.
