James Wallenstein

Jim taught me how to practice law. He was kind, funny and wise and smart beyond belief. I will miss him.

"To be sure" (Jim´s favorite lead on any topic upon which he was writing), he was the example for all real estate lawyers in Texas to follow-professional, friendly, courteous, deliberative, inclusive and considerate of dissenting opinions. He was a giant. I will miss him.

I wanted to share my fondest memory of Mr. Wallenstein. I was a first year lawyer at J&G working on a project with Jim. Everyone wanted to work with Jim because, as all of the above comments reflect, he was a fantastic lawyer, problem solver and a special person. We were having a kick off meeting with a key client who was anxious for a response when Kim (his assistant) buzzed to let Jim know Marcia was on the phone. Jim did not hesitate. It was my pleasure and honor to have been able to know and work with Jim over the course of the last several decades. He was the smartest and most pleasant attorney anyone could ever imagine. I will miss his smile and pleasant countenance and the Dallas real estate law business is less with his absence.

Jim was always first class, smiling, upbeat and the smartest lawyer in the room. We practiced together for about 3 years at Johnson, Bromberg, Leeds & Riggs. Loved every minute with Jim.

The Texas real estate bar will forever be indebted to Jim Wallenstein.
