Jim Walter and his wife the former Marguerite Dansereau, were classmates of mine at the University of Dallas from 1962 to 1965/I later saw Jim and Marguerite at

Tom and I can only echo Martin's words. We will remember Jim for his passion, his idealism, and his kindness.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences, Margeurite. Jim was truly a gentleman and a scholar. Southeastern's English Dept. was most fortunate to have him among its faculty for so many years. He raised the standard for us all, and he was a most-valued colleague. Jim will be greatly missed.

My uncle, Jim Walter, was the kind of uncle that a niece could look up to and admire with amazement. Some of my memories include his visits to the farm and hiding Easter eggs for us. I always felt in awe of his intelligence and how he would sit and listen to someone’s question or opinion, then cock his head as he thought for a minute and then deliver the most intelligent response in a quiet but masterful voice.
