WEST, Jr., James Ira James Ira West, Jr., 84, of Jonesboro, passed away October 1, 2014. He served in Korea with the U.S. Marine Corps and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts. He attended UGA and John Marshall Law School. He was one of the "Frozen Chosin". Mr. West was an inventor of the Eliminator Waterless Toilet, the Master Carrier, and many other inventions. He was also the State Representative for District 13. Along with being a pilot of helicopters and airplanes, he directed and starred in the movie "In Hot Pursuit". He was also a Mason. Mr. West was a loving husband, grandfather and best friend. He is survived by his wife of 10 years Joanie West of Jonesboro; stepson Daniel (Jessica) Mullis; granddaughters Caroline and Dylan Mullis; brother John West; sisters Patsy Jolly and Nell Dishroon; and other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Alan Parker officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 5 from 2:00P.M.- 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 3343 Peachtree Rd.
