James Oscroft Wilkes

I remember Professor Wilkes with great fondness and admiration. He was both an outstanding teacher, researcher and fine human being. He will always be missed dearly. RIP Professor Wilkes!!

Jim and Mary Ann, you are both remembered every day. A young Jim with upturned double-bass on his final day as an undergraduate at Emmanuel College, Cambridge and the last photograph I have of you.

Hard to believe it´s been 3 years since Professor Wilkes. He was a great professor and teacher. He was an outstanding human being. I always think about, since he really inspired me in multiple ways. He was a one of a kind!

Professor Wilkes is sorely missed. I sure miss keeping in touch with him. I will always treasure my memories of him both as a friend and fluid mechanics professor. He was really a great guy!

Jim is lovingly remembered by his many friends in England. I recently sent a message from them to Mary Ann, who has had a difficult year. As his American friends have said here, he was an exceptional man, kind, generous always courteous and patient, totally without any pomp or pretentiousness. Even after a year, Professor Wilkes is still very much missed. He will always be remembered with great fondness!
