This is my Uncle J.R. (grandfather's brother) I remember him as a close-talker with intense eyes leaning in when he spoke to me. Yet, even when I was a little girl, he never scared me. He was always joking. I remember him opening the family Christmas gifts as and willing to try the new younger person's game of Uno instead of insisting we all play the old folks' game of Rook at the Christmas gathering one year. Always fun. He did become the family patriarch of the Pleasant Grove...

J.R. was the sweetest most kind person I have ever met. He was my neighbor for the past 2 years and I dearly miss his sweet face. I am really going to miss him during Auburn football season. War Eagle Mr. JR you will be missed dearly.

Jim was one of a kind. He made a huge positive impact on my life. He never failed to make me think, learn and laugh, even up to the very end of his life on earth. I will forever cherish our friendship and look forward to seeing Jim again in heaven!! My sincerest sympathies to his family and friends.
