I was very saddened to learn of the passing of Coach Winters. As my senior history teacher at Franklin HS, he had been a wonderful, kind, and supportive influence on me. He "coached" me on how to work on my shyness to try out for the 1969 Rose Princess selection at school, and when I won, he declared I owed him "big time." I was his princess. I loved that guy and have so much respect for how he was part teacher/part coach/and part father to so many of us who grew up in Portland. I wish Mrs....

I can't begin to relate the impact that "Mr. Winters" had on my life as my teacher and coach at St Paul high school. I have great memories of those years. May God grant you peace in this time of sorrow.

We didn't spend a lot of time with James but heard warm wonderful stories of him from our(yours & ours) grandson Anthony. We will miss him. We pray for you to have strength to get through these very difficult times.
