James Wyngaarden

we have fond memories of Jim, when he and my sister spent time together. He was always very considerate of my mother and she liked being in his company. My wife Jean and I had a special visit with him when he showed us his Inuit collection at his home then in Duke Forest. We also visited with him in DC when he was the head of NIH. We considered Jim a good friend; and have fine memories of him. We send our belated condolences to the family.

I'll always remember Uncle Jim fondly as being very friendly and approachable. Not only taking the time for visits back to Michigan, but later when his career took him to Washington.

I would visit a friend in the DC area many times during the 80s and contacted Uncle Jim 2-3 times. He was glad to play tennis or meet me for lunch. Someone in his position could have politely said they were busy. But that was not Uncle Jim. He always gladly made the time.

My heartfelt condolences to the family at this sorrowful occasion. Dr. Wyngaarden was a man of many talents and with all his knowledge left the world in a better condition. Hoping as time passes and fond memories come to mind they bring you comfort. May the Lord of peace be with all of you.
