Jim made it clear to me that the 71 years he lived after his high school graduation in 1954 were immensely enhanced, strengthened, and forever undergirded by his 18 years of positive life experiences in Waterloo. I took Professor Young´s course on Constitutional Law my freshman year at CMSC in 1968. He was a great teacher, and taking that class had a major influence on my decision to eventually attend law school and become a lawyer almost half a century ago. In my practice, and later as a Circuit Judge, I had the privilege of getting to know Professor Young´s son, Jim, who is an outstanding attorney in his own right. My husband was an engineer at John Deere all of his life and he had graduated from West High and he felt the same way. But oh my just reading this obituary what a legacy this gentleman has left! His family has to be so proud of him. That's what you call an icon. My condolences to the family
