Byles Memorial Home - New London Obituary

East Lyme - Jan David Christiansen of East Lyme, died Wednesday, October 1st. 
He was born to George and Ann Sterk Christiansen September 26,1937 in
Walsenburg, Co.
After his medical discharge from the Navy Jan went to work for Gray Electronics
in New London . He then went to work for Jabbour Electronics and purchased the
business in April of 1978 with his wife and the love of his life Angeline.
Jan was a member of the NEEW  buying group and later a founding member of
Edge Marketing and Procurement.
Although the last few years were tough physically, he got to enjoy his love of
cars with his son Mark. From his 1955 Mercury Monterey to Mark’s Corvette .Jan
enjoyed his rides and the people he met along the way. He leaves his family
business in his son Karl's hands and was proud that his grandson Zack came to
work in the family business starting the third generation. Jan is predeceased by his
parents and his wife Angeline Christiansen.
He is survived by his son Karl(Janice) their children Tori Hartfiel(Justin).
Zachary Christiansen, Katie Christiansen and his son Mark Christiansen who he
lived with. He also had two great Grandchildren Charlotte and Maxwell Hartfiel
who he adored and always put a smile on his face. Our family would like to thank
Dr David Thompson and his staff for the great care they have given to Jan over the
years and a special thanks to the staff at Bride Brook Rehabilitation
who took such great care of him prior to his passing. Dad you are with Mom now
be at peace,
At Jan’s request his services and burial in St. Mary Cemetery next to Angie will
be private. Jan was a proud veteran so in lieu of flowers please make donations to

What a great set of parents & role models for the family & community, as well as the business community. As my husband was an industrial arts teacher I would often times have to pick up parts etc. for him at the store or accompany him. An interesting conversation would usually ensue. However, In particular Mark, I remember a few missed assignments in class and you were always willing to quickly make up the work as long as I didn't call your parents !!!
