Not sure what to say?

I don't remember when I first met Jan. It was probably when Kathleen used the toilet in the basement of Joanne's home in Boulder in 1997 which promptly overflowed and almost ruined Jan's still packed belongings. From there until today, he was a dear, dear friend whom I loved and respected highly. I was fortunate to spend a good bit of time with him and we laughed a lot about the absurdities all around us. He was a gentle giant of a man and I miss him greatly. Tom Stringer

Jan was a close friend at East Hill Elementary School, always a lot smarter than most of us faculty brats. Later his first wife, Susan Gore I believe, was a fellow freshman at Middlebury College. I next ran into Jan at Cornell and he'd just decided to leave Nuclear Physics for liberal arts, and apparently Middlebury... We'd lost touch until now...what an interesting journey he'd had! Most impressive....Tad Baldwin, now of Washington, DC
