Not sure what to say?

Jan is my cousin, we only saw each other a few times and then lost contact. We finally reconnected the last few years and had plans to 'hang out' this summer and get to know each other better. Even when she was sick, she showed interest in my family and life. What a huge loss for me and anyone who knows her and would of met her. I did however feel closer to her and got to know her better through all her friends and family yesterday at her 'Celebration of Life'. We'll have to hang out later...

Dear John and family -- We were so sorry to hear of your loss. We have such fond memories of you both from College Branch Days. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Elizabeth and Curtis Burdett

John and Family, I am very sorry to learn about Jan's passing. I do offer my sincerest condolences and wish you all the best. I am happy to know you and Jan and will remember the good times and her friendship. Take care and be well. My thoughts are with you.

It's always sad to hear of another Colt's passing. Peace be with you, Jan, and your entire family.
Susan Weetman Belair - CHS - Class of 1968

A true caregiver, Jan cherished her friends, welcomed strangers and most of all loved and looked after her family. A wonderful hostess, every holiday, birthday or just a weekend get together was made into a special occasion. Good food, good company and sharing with her friends and family, gracious that woman could set a beautiful table! In a giving spirit, it was usually she who would have us all hold hands and share a blessing. She was creative and generous with her time and talents,...

It has always been clear to me that Jan loved her family very much. Her husband, children and grandchildren were such a joy to her. The last time I saw Jan, she was lying on her bed(which she had already made) with all three of her grandchildren clamoring all around her. They were squealing and laughing and jumping on and off the bed. Jan was having as much fun as the children were. She was a giving and loving Nana, Mother, Wife, and friend. I'll really miss her. Jan came into my life in 1973. And for that I am eternally grateful because she showed me what the love of a daughter is. Although you have preceeded me, Jan, `you will always be alive in my memories.

Love,

Tom

I am so glad that we were finally in contact with Jan after several decades. I was married to her Uncle Jim. Jan came to my grand daughter's wedding, which she was very happy for, since she was the last of the original Whitelock's and Christina was glad to meet her. We spent Christmas Eve with the family and had a wonderful time. We were so looking forward to getting together and going over old family fotos. I finally found her and now I will miss her tremendously. Until we meet again, Jan....

What a nice tribute to your aunt, Mercedes. She sounds like a lovely, interesting person. I especially like that she volunteered at the SD Zoo! My condolences to you and your aunt's family. XO
