I was a huge supporter of Mayor Byrne. I worked on her 1983 and 1987 campaigns. She was truly an amazing woman and leader. Chicago is better off for her term in office. She was an outstanding mayor and I admired so very much. Rest in peace Mayor Byrne. I loved you and miss you.

She made a cameo appearance in a 1985 show titled "The 51st Ward" by newsman Peter Nolan and left the stage after she was cheered for vowing to make a political comeback. It didn't happen but I remember the determination in her voice and admired her grit.

She was a great mayor!

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Chicago' s first female Mayor, Jane Byrne. I offer her family my deepest condolences and pray that they find comfort in memories this holiday season and in the years ahead.
