With sympathy to Mrs. Cannon's family. I, too, had the privilege of being taught by Mrs. Cannon in the 70's. She had a great sense of humor, and was intrigued by the constantly changing colors of my nailpolish. I think she especially liked the green-glitter, if memory serves!

My deepest sympathies in the loss of your mother. She was my Creative Writing Teacher at Tosa East in 1975 and she was one of the few teachers in my life that made a difference. She sparked my interest in writing which I still have today. She was a very special person who will be missed.

I was a student of Mrs. Cannon's from 1974 -1976. I was an opinionated teenage and an even more opinionated writer. Despite that she was one of the most supportive adults in my life at the time. As my own daughter is finishing up college majoring in creative writing, I can only hope she was lucky enough to have a teacher like Mrs. C. Your dear Mom was an amazing spark at Wauwatosa East, and clearly your own notes tell that she was a bright light in all your lives. As a junior at Wauwatosa East high school, Jane Cannon helped me find my voice as a writer. Her firm, funny guidance help me and co-editor, Tim McBride, crank out our school's weekly newspaper, the Cardinal News in 1976-77. Last year McBride and I had the honor of meeting with our fearless leader to thank her for the tremendous influence she had in our lives then--by introducing us to the Greek Tragedies and great literature while loving teenagers--and as professionals today. Please accept my warmest condolances in the loss of a fabulous lady. In the short time I knew her I came to love her. Her sharp wit was second to none. My only regret is not having known her sooner. It was my pleaure and a special privilege to care for her. I shall miss you dear friend.
