My mother and I were just fondly remembering Dr. Wellemeyer, who was my pediatrician at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx from 1971 - into the 80s. My mother was an RN in another department and thought so highly of Dr. Wellemeyer. Years later, as we talk about healthcare experiences we still sing her praises and feel a sense of gratitude for the care my sister and received as her patients.

Dr Wellermeyer was my physician when I was a little boy in the 50s.
I have a clear memory of her being calm, thoughtful, dignified, caring, and intelligent.
She was an exceptionally kind and lovely human being.
I became a nurse in my 30s and met very few who had her fine qualities.

It is my hope that she lived a truly good life and that she is in God's grace and light.

I am a former pediatric patient of Dr. Wellemyer when she was practicing out of Montefiore hospital in the Bronx, as were my older brother and younger sister. I will always remember her making a house call to give me a shot of penicillin when I had tonsillitis in the late 1950s, while she patiently tried to coax me out of a locked closet. I continued seeing her through the 60's and 70s as well, at her office. My older brother became sick with Leukemia when he was 6 years old, when nothing...
