FROWNFELTER, Jane Elizabeth (Praschan) - Of Grand Blanc, age 70, a well-known pianist and harpist in Genesee County, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, June 13, 2006. She was at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, following a battle with cancer . Funeral service will be held at 1PM, Friday June 16, 2006 at Riverside Tabernacle, 429 N.B. Chavez, Flint. Pastor Tom Mattiuzzo and Reverend Van Frownfelter co- officiating. Visitation 3-8PM Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Frownfelter will be at the church from 12 Noon Friday until the time of the service. In honor of a life devoted to ministry through music, the family requests that in lieu of flowers a gift be made to the Jane Frownfelter Music Memorial Fund at Riverside Tabernacle. She was born July 16, 1935, in Flint, MI, daughter to Naomi and Glen Praschan. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1953. She was pianist for the Ambassadors Quartet, touring in the U.S. and Canada in the 1950s, then attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri, to study music. She served as Church Secretary for Riverside Tabernacle for five years. In 1961, she married Bernarr Frownfelter and together they had three sons, Daniel, David and John. She was a life long member of Riverside Tabernacle. She and her husband also were active with the Assemblies of God RV-MAPS missions/construction work. A dedicated homemaker, her life was full with raising children, going to church, entertaining, traveling and being a helpmate to her husband. She played both piano and harp proficiently, and likely could have had a classical concert/professional music career if she had chosen that path. As a teacher and performer, Jane was highly regarded for her technical music theory and Spirit-anointed performance. She began playing publicly at the age of 15, and served as the church pianist at Riverside Tabernacle for about 50 years. She was a member of the American Harp Society, the St. Cecelia Society, and a founding member of the harp trio Glissando which performed at many public and private events in the Flint area. She taught scores of piano students over a period of three decades, several of which also became accomplished musicians. Along with her husband, she is survived by three sons: Daniel Bernarr (and Kathy) of Goodrich, David Graham (and Sue) of Flint, and Dr. John Glen (and Wasan) of Huntington Woods; mother, Naomi Praschan of Grand Blanc; and sister, Sharon (Dr. Larry) Tarno of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, Chad, Aubree, Megan, Isabella, Colton, Rebekah, Peter and Paul; and many dear friends including our special "angel" Colleen Heatwole, who attended Jane with vigilance and dedication, and the Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan (hospice). She was preceded in death by her father Glen Praschan.

Dear Bernie,
Jane brings many memories to me and many emotions go with those memories. She was a special cousin and friend. She was passionate about her life and ideas. She had a way of making me feel special, even when, as a teen, I felt anything but special. Her tenacity and ability to move on, will always stay in my memory. I love her and I love you too.

Love cousin Ruth Ann

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Jane was my piano teacher in the early 70's. Her playing for worship and choir was phenomenal. I have been in lots of church music since my young days at Riverside, and no one compares to Jane. I so wanted to be like her when I grew up.

We are praying for you during this difficult time. Through it all, the Lord is good and He will give you comfort.

David,Sue and the Frownfelter Family,
Our deepest sympathies and all our prayers are with you at this time and always.

Thank you for sharing the story of the tears. You know that she is in the arms of Jesus and the story of the tears is an encouragement of what we have to look forward to in the transitioning to our "Father".
We will continue to remember you in our prayers.
What we choose to remember is Jane celebrating Jesus with all the heavenly hosts.
I just remembered that God said He would remove all our tears and the tears that she shed that...
