A belated condolence note on the passing of Mrs. Jane Gunther. For many years I have been writing the biography of her ancestor, Edmund Roberts, Jr., America's first diplomat to the Far East, during the 1830s. Roberts' daughter Mary Ann (Marianna) married Charles E. Perry of Delhi, New York, in 1837. He died in July 1853.
