Not sure what to say?

Jane's spirit continues to live on at the Arden Dimick Library...whether it is the classics section in the book sale (her recommendation) or the thriving Book Nook. She was an amazing volunteer and leader with the Friends. We all miss her dearly.

I've worked for, consulted to, and volunteered for nonprofits for the last 60 years. Jane still lives in my memory as the most intelligent, knowledgable, dedicated person I've ever met. She is my model for nonprofit leadership, in whatever way that manifests, paid or unpaid, leading from the top or the bottom. George Bernard Shaw described himself - and it could equally be said of Jane - "I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege...

I was saddened to learn that Jane had died more than two years ago. Jane was the most supportive, caring and creative boss I'd had in my work years. She saw and promoted her colleagues' and employees' creativity and helped develop our competencies, giving us (me) a confident voice working with the Lung Association and Sacramento's environmental community from 1975 to 1978. I only wish that I could have told Jane with my own voice just how significant her influence was on me while she was...

Jane was a rare gem! She would be thrilled to know that there is still a biography and poetry table at the Arden Dimick book sales. :)

I just learned of Jane's death. Her influence in local politics and the nonprofit sector, if anything, was beyond the superlatives in her obituary. She and her good friend and eventual brother-in-law, Curt Mekemson, were one of only two examples I ever saw function effectively as Co-Executive Directors of a nonprofit (Sacramento-Emigrant Trails Lung Association). She was an amazing woman in every aspect of her life, and a mentor to many, even when unacknowledged as such. She could not not...

Happy birthday, Jane! Thinking of you on this special day.

We didn't know Jane that well, but always admired everything we did know. She was a strong, intelligent and compassionate woman who devoted herself to making the world a better place for us all. We are so sorry for the loss to our community and her friends and family.

Jane gave me the opportunity of my lifetime to advocate for clean air. She gave Sacramento an environmental center and direction. Her abundant legacy is unmatched. Thank you Jane.

I first met Jane when I was a young reporter fro KFBK Radio, and she was leading the Lung Association/Breathe Sacramento Chapter. In 2001, my wife and I moved into Arden Park--and got involved in the neighborhood tree planting program. I eventually became a co-leader of the effort, along with Jane. We planted more than 2000 trees in our neighborhood and Jane was instrumental in keeping the effort afloat for almost 20 years. I will miss her presences in the neighborhood and her partnership in...
