Jane Korzan, 82, of Las Cruces, passed away on December 5, 2025, at Mountain View Regional Hospital, entering the presence of the Lord.
Born on April 25, 1943, in Tularosa, New Mexico, Jane was the daughter of the late Leo Ortiz and Emma Duran. Before settling in Las Cruces, she was a teacher in Roswell, then in Alamogordo at the NM School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, formerly known as the NM School for the Visually Handicapped. While in Alamogordo Jane and her husband devoted time to serving as members of the Civil Air Patrol.
A dedicated educator, Jane continued her passion for service long after retiring from teaching, remaining involved for many years with the New Mexico Retired Teachers Association, subbing in Tularosa and Mescalero.
Jane is survived by her son, Kevin; her grandson, Cameron; and her granddaughter, Giovanni, whom she cherished and loved deeply. She also held close her Las Cruces First Church family, where she was a devoted member and found great joy, fellowship, and purpose.
She is preceded in death by daughter‑in‑law, Maria Guital Korzan, and two brothers Robert M. and Leo P Ortiz.
Serving as casket bearers will be John Green, Isack Berg, Ronnie Higgins, Jeremy Baldillez, Ernesto Garza, and Perry Hester.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Las Cruces First Church, 5605 Bataan Memorial West. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM, officiated by Pastors David Vistine and David Iglesias. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Ave.
