Jane McAleavey

Dear Family of Jane L. McAleavey,

On behalf of the Kansas Society of Mayflower Descendants let me express our deepest sympathy on the recent death of your loved one.

This note is to let you know she will be remembered at the Nov 2008 meeting in a memorial service for our members for whom the Lord has opened the gates of a larger life. Jane was a lovely woman and will be greatly missed. I knew her from the Woman's Club and also Daughters of the American Colonists. She and her husband had such a wealth of knowledge about the architiecture of the city of Fort Work. We learned so much from them.

What a joy and a privelege knowing Jane was. She had been a long-time member of Penelope Club at the Ft Worth Woman's Club when I first joined that group. Always sparkling eyes and smiling, sharing her adventures, listening intently to others, interested in them, a warm, wonderful woman. I know you all were miss her greatly as do we her Penelope "family."

Jane will be missed by her friends in the Honorable Philip Livingston Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists. She was a faithful member and served as our Chapter Regent 1975-1977. When she moved from Fort Worth, she stayed in touch through e-mail. We extend our sympathy to her family.

It was so wonderful to have the chance to get to know Jane when Jessica, our daughter, was at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. Jane and Frank made it to every one of Jessica's dance performances in the 4 years she was there (although I think Jane was a little more excited about it than Frank!). Jane has always been an inspiration to me, being an intelligent, warm and genuine woman even into her 80s and 90s. She will be missed.

Jennie (as my mother calls Jane, her cousin) was such a delightful, curious and engaged woman, even at the age of 95! We enjoyed a visit in June and even then, she was intent on learning and sharing. She was funny and oh-so-interesting! She provided many treasured stories about family history over the years, which have allowed us to see these dry names in a genealogy chart as living, breathing people. We shall miss dear Jennie! Our heartfelt sympathy goes to the children and grandchildren.
