Collier’s Funeral Home - Saint Ann Obituary

Moeckel, Jane Mary (nee Campbell), longtime resident of St. Louis, Mo. area, died unexpectedly December 29, 2018, along with her dear daughter, Kate Kasten and dear grandchildren, Jonathan and Zoe.

She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Ellen (Buzz) Beverly Campbell and father, Charles Wise Campbell, Sr. She is survived by her dear son, Robert Charles (Casey) Moeckel of Perdido Key, Florida; her dear brother Charles "Chuck" Wise (Mary) Campbell, Jr. of St. Louis, Mo.; dear nieces, nephews and grandchildren and countless friends across the country.

Jane was born on October 26, 1957 in St. Louis, Mo. Early in life, she and her family moved to Hannibal, Mo. for a brief time before returning to Brentwood. She graduated from Brentwood High School in the class of "76" and afterward, attended Fontbonne College. During these early years, Jane formed her "first of many" circle of friends.

Jane approached each day with a smile and positive outlook. She was a great communicator with an ability to quickly establish a personal connection with people. She had a knack for making everyone feel special. These gifts served her well as she spent most of her career in the retail sector, including her family's nursery with brother Chuck. Together they enjoyed caring for the plants and flowers. Mostly, they loved that the nursery became an afternoon gathering place, where customers and friends would share a laugh and good cheer! Most recently, she was in the cosmetic industry. Throughout her life, Jane collected several more circles of friends and super-charged each one with her love.

Jane made sure her book of life was full, never turning down an adventure! Especially if it involved travel (especially Florida and NY), the sun, a beach or pool, cocktails and of course, friends and more friends! She had a contagious laugh, playful nature and always had fun wherever she went!

Above all, she cherished her children and absolutely treasured time with her beautiful grandkids, Jonny and Zoe. They knew her as "Mama Jane" and her face would light up when she heard them call her name! It was her time with them when she shined the brightest and smiled the biggest!

Perhaps Jane's greatest gift to all of us was her ability to interconnect her many circles of friends - she was the glue for her "extended family". Although our time with her was much too short, we will never forget her "sparkly" personality and will always be "glued" together by our memories of sweet Jane.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 6, 3:00-8:00 P.M. at Collier's Funeral Home 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd. St. Ann, Mo. 63074. The service will be Monday, January 7, 10:00 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church 15800 Manchester Rd. Ellisville, Mo. 63011. Interment: Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Brentwood Alumni Association or St. Louis Zoo.

Not sure what to say?

I met Jane when I went to work at Saks. She was a darling bubbly blonde who was so friendly and nice, it was always fun to talk with her. What a terrible loss - my deepest sympathy to the whole family.

Our deepest sympathy for Jane, Kate, Jonathan and Zoe. Thinking of all of you on this sad occasion and wishing you peace and patience for healing.

We will miss Janes sweet smile and her funny stories , sitting poolside talking about the latest Netflix drama, happy hours on the deck. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Moeckel and Kasten families.

Our deepest heartfelt sympathy to all of your family. We are thinking & praying for everyone involved in this tragedy. They all will be sincerely missed.

Jane was the better part of my youth. I was always welconed in her home and her mom and dad were like my parents. So many loving and special memories. As an adult, Jane was always there for me. I always knew I had a place to go with Jane. She is joyful, loving and yes "sparkly". I love you Jane. Sending prayers of peace and love to all her loved ones - family and friends. We are all better for knowing Jane.

My condolences and sympathy to the entire family. Keeping you in thoughts and prayers.

Jane was a warm and wonderful woman who made everyone she met feel like a million bucks. She was a generous soul and great conversationalist who was truly interested in getting to know you. Heaven gained a very special angel whose void on earth will be sorely felt. May your sweet soul rest in peace.

This is a beautifully written obituary. Everything said was exactly what I knew of Jane. I had the pleasure of working with her for a short time and continued friendship. To know Jane was to love Jane. She especially loved those grandchildren. I take peace in that she was there for them and with them always. God bless them all.

I was fortunate enough to work with Jane at Botanicals on the Park years ago. She was a special lady with an amazing personality. Jane had a way of making everyone feel like a close friend. I will always remember her loving nature and her amazing laugh. My sincere condolences to all her family and friends. Rest in peace sweet soul.
