Jane was my tennis doubles partner for many years. I think we met in the 80's. She looked after my house several times when I went on vacation. Jane introduced me to her co-worker, Brenda, who became my roommate for three years. We enjoyed going to dinner, the movies, pro tennis matches. She had a delightful sense of humor, was witty and was never at a loss for words. I feel blessed to have known Jane and miss her both on and off the tennis court.

I have such fond memories of Jane. We knew each other post-college in Chicago and moved to California together in 1969....packing our meager belongings in my car and driving cross-country. We were roommates in Palo Alto and Mountain View for a couple of years and then also in San Francisco. Our lives then diverged when she moved to New York and I stayed in San Francisco. She was a dear friend, always happy and with high energy. Blessings to you, Jane.

Betty and Jane - Two Great Childhood Friends
I am submitting a precious picture showing Jane as I remember her from the 1950s during her years in West Hartford, CT. Jane is on the right, standing with my younger sister, Elizabeth Darrow (formerly Betty Hatton). It is pretty obvious that the two girls were enjoying their tomboy phase at the time. Betty was Jane's good friend, but I, being an older girl, was sometimes Jane's baby-sitter. I can close my eyes and easily see Jane as the beautiful 10-year-old girl I once knew. She was...

I met Jane, through my sister Ceci, who was her best friend. Her death is a great loss to me personally as well as to Ceci, for she was a dear friend to me as well. She very generously drove me many times in her Mercedes from Carmel to San Francisco, and back, when it was necessary to travel there. She was a delightful person, full of interest in everything, with a great sense of humor, and so pleasant to be with. She was great friends with my Mom, too, and in fact was part of our family,...

I first met Jane when we were both nine years old and living in West Hartford, Connecticut.
Jane’s brother Steve, and my sister Bunny, each in the seventh grade, were smitten with each other. They thought we’d make the best pals because we were both tomboys, and they were very right about that. We loved our baseball gloves and throwing a baseball back and forth as hard as we could (not like a girl throws). At summer camp we competed fiercely in the track meets. Jane always won...

Jane’s dad was my mother’s brother, and so, Jane and I were cousins. When we were young in the 1950s, our families lived not too far away from each other in Connecticut. I can remember looking forward to get-togethers at Jane’s West Hartford home on Garfield Road that she shared with her brother/my cousin, Steve, and their parents, Howard and Peggy. Our parents would visit while having a cocktail and munching on those little orange-colored, square crackers called Cheez-Its. It was at one...
