Not sure what to say?

As my mom's yartzeit (germanic spelling) is approaching I want to share this memory. We would go swimming at st joes together and there were often quotes outside the locker room that the swim coach would put out. The one that sticks in my memory is "If you think you can or you think you can't, either way you're right" Mom always pointed that out and told me not to forget it. That memory popped into my head today and is really resonating, so much so that I feel compelled to write about it...

I only got to see Dr. Portnoy once at Penn Medicine. Every holiday I think of her when I use her holiday cookbook. Today I'm making her zesty horseradish and her potato kugel. Wonderful recipes from a wonderful doctor.

I will always remember Jane, my longtime close friend who I met in Louisville, KY. We shared a love of Judaism, antiquing, eating and every milestone related to our children. When we were younger we shared our deepest thoughts on everything, together. She was a rare gem who always made me feel appreciated. I love her with all my heart. May her memory be a blessing to her family and everyone she touched. She died much too young. I miss her deeply. All my love, Jill Klein Bisker and family

Jane and I bonded in Louisville when we both met while raising our young children. We continued to embrace each other through the years. I think of Jane often and I miss her deeply. Her legacy continues through everyone she met. I feel fortunate she was my very special friend for over 40 years. I miss and Love you Jane. Jill

I remember Jane from ballet. She and Julie were in my ballet class.

So timely. I just made her hamantaschen recipe. Delicious.

Baruch dayan haemet. To Cantor and family, my sincere sympathies. Your wife/mother was dear to my family.

To the dear family and friends. I was fortunate to be a patient of Dr. Jane Portnoy. She was knowledgeable and had compassion for her patients. She was understanding, calming and wise.
I will miss her as a kind woman and physician.
Sincerely,
Dr. Philipp and Marlene Danzig Kornreich

My deep condolences to Dr. Portnoy's family. Dr Portney took care of me for approximately the last 15 yearsAs a nurse for 39 years I know what an excellent physician is. Not only was Dr portnoy an excellent physician she was caring and kind and a true woman of Honor in the classic sense. Well I know her loss is immeasurable to your family, please know that she will also be missed by her patients.
