Byles Memorial Home - New London Obituary

Jane Ellen (Robinson) Traystman.
It is with heavy hearts we announce that on October 31st 2024 Jane's spirit moved on to begin
her eternal life. Before passing she asked that her death not be mourned, but that the life she
lived be celebrated; with that, we honor her life with fond memories.
On February 26th 1937, in New Haven, CT the first born daughter of Clinton Ethalbert Robinson
and Myrtle Jane (Greiner) Robinson came into the world for what would become an
extraordinary 87 years.
It is difficult to sum up such a life in a few brief paragraphs. What set Jane apart from the
rest was her talent to find beauty in everything around her, and share that gift with others.
Whether it was interior design, seamstressing, decorating for the holidays, or growing her
garden, Jane brought beauty to everyone around her. Jane had a passion for helping others
through charity work and an endless love for animals. She was loudly and proudly feminist, and
could often be heard lecturing young women, “It’s still a man's world sweetheart, so go and give
‘em hell.” Being the die hard Red Sox fan she was, there was something poetic about her
watching the Yankees lose the World Series in her final days. As she always liked to say
“Anyone but the yankees.” Although the Sox were not in the final two, her all time favorite player
(and former Red Sox member), Mookie Betts, was a key player in the game that defeated the
Yankees.
Later in life Jane decided to “retire” by starting her own, very successful, business. Send
It With Love, located on the Gold Star Highway in Groton opened in 1990. It was an emporium
for gifts, antiques, unique greeting cards, Vermont made chocolates, and so much more. Jane
loved sharing her unique aesthetic with others, and took pride in every package she wrapped.
Jane poured herself into every fine detail of her store until its closing in 2014.
As a lover of theater and movies, it's only fitting that she would carry on to have a romance
seemingly out of a movie. Jane and Frank met through the Robinson family business, a grocery
store on Long Hill Road in Groton, CT. Married in 1954, they spent 70 years happily exploring
life side by side. In addition to Frank and their dog Mookie, Jane leaves behind her son Seth
and his wife Tracey, her grandchildren Madison, Nicholas, Kyle, and Giselle, a great grandson
Jack, and her sister Susan. Jane was predeceased by her son Joel, her parents, and her
younger brother Howard who, in 1966, paid the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ASPCA in Jane's memory. Helping animals was
something Jane was vibrantly passionate about.

Dear Family of Jane. I am very sorry to learn of her passing. I live nearby and always enjoyed passing her lovely gardens. I knew she loved animals and we shared that love in common. I will remember her as a bright light in this world. May you find peace and comfort in your loss.

To: Frank, Seth and family-

So very saddened to hear of Jane's passing. Bringing such joy to family, neighbors, animals and her tending to her beautiful and delightful gardens was just part of her way of spreading her love to others. Always encouraging to those in need with illnesses, she was an inspiration to those who watched her transform the hopeless into the hopeful. We will miss her as our friend and neighbor, and we are encouraged as another angel will be watching out for...
