JANELLE DIXON MONROE passed away on the 6th of May 2009, in Houston, Texas. Born in Witchita Falls, Texas on the 13th of May 1939, (which was always a sore point with her, since she would have preferred to say she was born "in the 40's") Janelle grew up in Texarkana, TX, where she charmed the...

Not sure what to say?

Dear JAMES , SO SORRY TO HEAR OF THE LOSS OF JANELLE. I REMEMBER HER FONDLY FROM TEXAS HIGH. SINCERELY, SUZANNE BRUNAZZI PAXTON

Mrs. Monroe was my favorite AP when I was a student at Elsik. She always had a contagious smile, a warm hug, and a sympathetic ear. Even when I saw her years later at a homecoming game, she impressed me still with her love and kindness. I keep an e-mail exchange she and I had in my work in-box. Each time I've passed it over the years, I remember her and how she touched so many lives positively. She was truly a blessing!

To "Mrs. Monroe's" family,
You are in my prayers. I was one of her students my senior of high school in 1987 at Hastings. She was such a sweet woman and a FABULOUS teacher! I know she touched so many lives in so many ways... Always lending an ear and doing whatever she could to help her students. I am now a teacher and see what an asset she was to our profession. My heart goes out to you. You were blessed to have her!

James, Jay, Sandi and family

I am so very sorry for your loss. She was a very special person, and I am sure she is an incredible spirit. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear James and family, I was deeply saddened to hear of Janelle's death. She was one of my dearest friends in high school. In fact, she was my role model--the one girl that I wanted to be just like. She was beautiful, smart, kind, talented and fun to be with. In 1956 we took the Texas Eagle to St. Louis to represent Texarkana at the American Red Cross national convention. It was the first time that either of us had ever ridden a train and we had a marvelous time. I am sorry that we didn't...

She was the best cheerleading sponsor ever!!! We loved her like a mother! The world has lost a very special lady!

James, and family
Janelle will be missed by her classmates and friends.

James, Sandi, Jay and family,
I am so glad to have had the opportunity to work for Janelle at Elsik HS. She was a dream to work for and was truly a wonderful, sweet person. We had some really fun times.
God Bless
