Janet May (Wallenthin) Bowker, 82, of Harvard Street, Attleboro, died on Friday, October 6, 2006 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro where she had been a resident since March of this year. She was the wife of the late Lloyd Ashley “Tink” Bowker to whom she was married on May 19, 1950 and who entered into eternal rest on January 31, 2005.

Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on September 30, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Avis Louise (Sandborn) Wallenthin. She was raised and educated in Attleboro where she was a 1942 graduate of Attleboro High School. Mrs. Bowker later attended Bryant College. She resided in Attleboro for most of her life.

Mrs. Bowker served with the United States Navy Waves from December 28, 1944 until her honorable discharge on August 8, 1946.

She was employed as a secretary for many years having been employed at R. F. Simmons Company in Attleboro and for the First National Bank in Attleboro. She retired as an Admissions Counselor for Fisher Junior College having worked at the former Attleboro campus.

Mrs. Bowker was a member of the Second Congregational Church, Attleboro.

In her youth she was a member of the Rainbow Girls and later was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star – Hope Chapter, Attleboro.

She enjoyed knitting and the treasured times spent in the company of family.

Mrs. Bowker leaves a daughter: Lauren A. Adams and her husband, Duane G. Adams, of North Attleboro; three grandchildren: Petty Officer James M. “Jay” Adams, U. S. Navy, of Lemoore, California; Lee S. Adams of North Attleboro and Evan A. L. Adams of North Attleboro; a sister: Helen “June” Sargeant of Naples, Florida; two nephews and a niece. She was the sister of the late Carol J. (Wallenthin) Murray.
