Janet Anita Burdge

STERLING, VA- A lady who was most admired. Janet Anita Burdge passed away on March 30, 2011. Janet was 87 years old. Born in Granville, New York on April 5, 1923, she was the daughter of Sarah (Irwin) and McNeill Newton. Janet obtained a nursing degree; graduating from the Vassar Brothers School of Nursing in 1943. She married Fred William Burdge on July 29, 1945. They were blessed with two children, Jim and Carol. She went on to work in the field of nursing at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York until retiring as a nursing supervisor.

A long time resident of Hyde Park, New York, Janet and her husband, Fred, moved to the Sterling area in 1995 to be closer to their family. Janet made friends easily and soon became involved in her new community. A great cook, family and friends quickly tell of her delicious meals. She loved entertaining. Janet was quite the organizer, as could be seen in the way she ran her home. A special lady, she will be dearly missed. But she will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

She leaves behind her children: Jim Burdge of Lake Anna, VA and Carol Csadenyi-Higdon of Sterling, VA; granddaughters: Jennifer Burdge (her children Naia Bleu and Miles James) of Westminster, CO and Chloe Csadenyi-Benson of Sterling, VA. She was predeceased by her parents and husband, Fred.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on April 6, 2011 between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 7, 2011 in the Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA.
