DOVER – Janet Elaine Carrier, 55, beloved wife of Robert Carrier and devoted mother of George, Stephen and Aaron Fournier died on Monday, January 1, 2007 at home with her family by her side.

Born on March 28th, 1951 in Rochester, NH, she was the daughter of Russell and Lois (Furbush) Hanson. Janet grew up in Dover, NH, graduated from Dover High School in 1970 and raised her three sons in Somersworth, NH where she lived until 1998.

For over twenty years, Janet was the secretary to the principal at Maple Wood Elementary School in Somersworth where she made many treasured and close friends. She had a great talent for art and enjoyed drawing, painting and making crafts. Janet was the biggest fan and supporter of her sons and step-sons at their various sporting events and school activities. You would often hear her voice above all others in the crowd.

Throughout her life, Janet was tremendously thoughtful and always first in line to help people in anyway she could. During her high school years, she was involved in numerous activities, regularly lending her artistic talents. In later years she could often be found at little league fields, athletic booster meetings, and school activities lending her time and encouragement to not only her sons but to all of the children in the community.

Janet’s gregarious laugh was frequently heard with family and friends and will be most remembered by all who knew her. She always enjoyed traveling with her husband and close friends.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; her sons George Fournier and his wife Julie Buszuwski of Framingham, Massachusetts; Stephen Fournier and Aaron Fournier, both of Dover; her stepsons Christopher and Conor Carrier of Dover; her brother Daniel Hanson and his wife Beverley of Newmarket, NH.

She is also survived by her brother in law, Ernest Carrier and his wife Irene of Portsmouth, NH; her former husband Raymond Fournier of Berwick, ME; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was predeceased by her parents Russell and Lois Hanson and a very special aunt Elaine Merrill.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Parish United Church of Christ, 176 West High St., Somersworth with Rev. Mark Rideout, pastor. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Charles Cemetery, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish are invited to make memorials in her name to Seacoast Hospice, 642 Central Ave., Dover, NH 03820

Our thoughts are with you and your family at this very difficult time. When we lose someone so close to our hearts it makes it very difficult, hopefully the 12 pages of entries to this guestbook help you and remind you of all the good times we all shared. She will me missed by us all.
I too enjoyed several suppers with Jan and family, and always felt welcome at her house.
Again, please accept our deepest sympathies, and call if you need anything, love Kevin, Cara,...

Bob, We were saddened over the weekend to hear of Jan's passing. If there is anything we can do to help please let us know.

George, Stephen, and Aaron,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Never doubt that those of us who knew her feel a deep ache at her passing. I'm so sad that I'll never be able to run into her again and see her smile or hear her laugh. Know that you're in my thoughts and prayers as you say goodbye to her.

When I think of Jan, I always remember her dressed in George's football jersey at the games when we were in high school. She'd clang that cowbell...I loved cheering beside her!! She and the other moms always made things extra special for everybody. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. It was obvious what a loving mom she was to her boys ~ and they all grew up to be wonderful men because of that!

We are all grateful to have had the chance to know her at one...

George, Stephen and Aaron (Ray and immediate family). Our sincerest regrets on your loss of your mother. Your mom was a fireball of a person always embracing life. Remember her in the ways that make you smile!

I am so sorry to hear about Janet,
I have so many wonderful childhood memories
that I will cherish forever.
May all your memories bring you comfort at this time.

I can still see the beautiful smile and hear the laughter of the little girl as she would run across the lawn to visit. She shared her happiness with everyone she met. My deepest sympathies are with you and your family.
