Not sure what to say?

Two or three times the past three decades I called Janet a national treasure. That's a little inaccurate. She was an international treasure.

If history is written well in 2030, Janet will be prominent in it. At this moment society has little awareness of the size and importance of her impact. But those of us who met her know, and her work will live on.

A stalwart friend since 1985 and an inspiring leader. My condolences to Mayer, Joe and Carl.

Dear Mayer and family,
Was truly sorry to hear of Janet's passing.
She had a generous spirit and a wonderful laugh.
She helped many people to find their own paths,
It was many years ago when I worked with her in Harrisburg, and I learned much from her.
My sincerest condolences to all of you. She will be missed.

Janet is to me
a force of nature,
like the sun rising,
the seasons turning,
the winds blowing,
or gravity-
I'm not sure I ever
really expected
her
not to be here
stemming the tide
of nearly universal confusion
about the true nature
of human minds
in all our diverse
brilliant
scattered
pieces
envisioning
and manifesting
a cohesive geometry
(puzzling* sometimes,
just for fun!)...

I will remember Janet as a courageous fighter, someone who was eager and willing to take on the biggest challenges, and who insisted on thoughtful treatment for herself and everyone around her. I join her family, friends, and colleagues in mourning her passing. She will be missed and the brilliant thinking and the example of her leadership will live on forever.

I have known and loved Janet for almost 40 years. Her brilliance, love, and courage have changed hundreds of lives around the world and her legacy will continue. We all, together with Mayer, Joe and Carl, mourn her loss.

Janets passing is a huge loss to the world. I and innumerable others will forever benefit from her leadership, her mentoring, her wisdom, her loving persistence in reaching for what is right. Janet, we will miss you!

I am very sorry for your loss. Janet was a mentor of mine. I am so grateful for her compassion and her ability to listen so deeply to people. Thank you for sharing her. Mary in Portland OR.
