JANET M. FORTENDER (nee PEIFER) Janet M. Fortener (nee Peifer) age 78, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was a past member of the Schererville Firemens Auxiliary, The Wally Byam Camping Club and TOPS Fitness. Jan loved traveling and her years of living on the ocean in Florida. She worked at Teibel's Restaurant and Lake Central School Corp. and she loved to play BINGO. She is survived by her brother Ron Peifer; children: Dan (Laura), Dave (Tracey) and Robin Buchler; grandchildren: Annie Kilroy, Kristin Apostol, Nicole Montagano and Kari Fertig; great grandchildren: Milania Rice and Benjamin Apostol. Special daughter in law Debbie Buchler and best friend Mary Lou Kozubel. Preceded in death by husband Norbert Fortener; parents Ed and Lola Peifer; brother Clarence Peifer; and twin sister Jeanette Covert. Final arrangements were entrusted to Solan Pruzin Funeral Home. A private memorial will be held at a later date. She will be greatly missed. We love you Mom.

Boy was she a fighter! We had dialysis in the same Pod & i always waved & spoke to her. I knew she was going thru some rough times but she just kept on going. I'm truly sorry for your loss. I'm gonna miss her. It hurts to see my dialysis friends not show up any more. This fighter is resting now. God bless
