Not sure what to say?

Aunt Helen had more nieces and nephews than Evelyn and Robert Tolan. She had my mom Marlene Tolan Stenson Stenrita Stanley tolan Gwendolyn and Lonnie Reed. Many nieces but Felicia Ling, Kathryn Davis Yolanda Long Roshon Henderson Darris and Deundra Williams and many more who are alive. Thank you!

I was sadden to learn of the passing of Mrs. Gamble--not sad for Helen--but sad for the Anchorage community. We all know that Mrs. Gamble has gone home to be with the Lord and receive her heavenly reward.

The citizens of the City of Anchorage have all benefited from her gift of service. Whether she was the amen corner for Rev. Patterson or the advocate for children at the Alaska Children Services or the encourager and supporter for the Business and Professional Women, not only in...

The State of Alaska truly lost a gem. About 12 years ago, my wife and I first met Aunt Helene (as we fondly called her) in the company of her nephew and niece - Henry Dorsey and Mary Stewart both of Roseville, California.

Mis. Gamble, you will be missed very much by the many people you have touched, including my family and I. I can remember all the encouraging words you used to give us to keep us from giving up. I love you and please continue to watch over your many children.

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand. ~Irish...

Helen Gamble was such an intelligent, dynamic woman. Although her health had taken her out of an active role in our neighborhood in recent years, she was such a presence that it's hard to believe she's gone. She had a strength of character and personality that I will always remember.

Helen was a "fixture" in College Village and you could always count on having a good visit with her. She left her signature on many improvements for Alaskans. Thank you Helen.

Our back yards adjoined during our years in Anchorage, so we shared many a back-yard-fence conversation, plus occasional baked goods and recipes in the '70s. She was the most famous person in our neighborhood, our kids always said, because she did so many newsworthy things she was always in the paper. We loved her very much, and now we know she's Up There, looking down, checking out where there's need, and inspiring folks to make things happen, just as she did all her years in Anchorage. ...
