Mrs. Janet Lovat Frazier “Jan” Hamblin, age 67, a resident of Washington, NC died Saturday August 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 31st at Church of the Good Shepherd officiated by Pastor Jay Martin.

Jan was born in Guilford County on January 14, 1957, daughter of the late Cyrus Cliford Frazier, Jr. and the late Mary Jeannette Fair Frazier. She was a 1975 graduate of Page High School in Greensboro and received her Bachelor’s degree at UNC Chapel Hill.  On February 6, 1988, she married Mark Crosbie Hamblin who survives.  She retired from Beaufort County Hospital, now ECU Health Beaufort Hospital, after twenty years of service as their Director of Volunteer Services and Process Improvement Coordinator.  She worshiped at Church of the Good Shepherd. She cherished her time with Mark and her beloved boys. Long Beach (Oak Island) was her “happy place” where she spent most of her summers with family and friends. Beach sunrises and sunsets with her sisters and extended family were always special as well as long walks on the beach with Mark and her dogs. Jan loved well and was loved by so many long time and new friends.

Surviving along with her husband, her sons: Mark C. Hamblin, Jr. of Mooresville, Christian A. Hamblin of Andros Bahamas, and James C. Hamblin of Raleigh; sisters: Mary Fair Whitley (Carter) of Charlotte, Laurie Sizemore (Frank Julian Sizemore III) of Greensboro, Christie Shell (Jeff) of Greensboro, her sisters-in law, Martha Hamblin (John Powell) of Mebane, Melissa Goslin (David) of Burlington and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Jan was predeceased by both of her parents.

Mark, Christian and James... so sorry to learn of your mom's passing. I will always remember her kindness and her obvious love of her family! Our hearts are with you as you mourn your loss and celebrate her life.

Lifting up Mark and Jan’s sons in prayer during this time. Their boys and Mark were for years members of the Scout Troop 99 family and that meant so was Jan. She was always very sweet and kind. I pray for peace for them all.

Mrs. Jan was always so sweet and pleasant every time I saw her at the hospital. She always had a smile on her face. May God give all of you peace and comfort today and the days ahead.

May God bless Jan's family and friends in this time of sorrow. I enjoyed working with her in Volunteer Services at the hospital. She had such a spirit of love and laughter. Prayers

Mark, we are saddened to hear of Jan’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
