Janet Louise Cooper Hebblethwaite, 88, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away, October 7, 2024 at Centennial Park, North Platte.


Janet was born on February 15, 1936 to Louis and Agnes Greenwood Cooper six miles north of Wellfleet, Nebraska at the homestead of her grandparents, George and Flora Cooper. She was delivered by Dr. Mills of Maywood, Nebraska. Janet was baptized at St. Williams Catholic Church in Wellfleet. She attended Bell Prairie rural school through the 3rd grade. Her parents purchased a farm in 1945 in the Echo School district, where she attended 4th — 8th grade and was a member of rural youth. Janet graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1954. She worked at First National Bank as a bookkeeper before her marriage to Bernie Hebblethwaite of Wallace, Nebraska, originally from Licking, Missouri. They were wed on April 22, 1959 at St. Williams Catholic Church in Wellfleet and were married for 57 years.


Janet and Bernie lived in the Wallace area at the Charles Clemens house for 10 months, Bud Clemens farm for 3 years and then moved to the Lyle Baars farm in August of 1962 for 1 year. They moved to North Platte in 1963. They built a home on the west edge of North Platte and moved there in 1978. Janet returned to the workforce after her children were raised. She worked for the North Platte Public Schools lunch program at Eisenhower School, Daylight Donut, Krispy Krust Bakery and retired in 2013 from the Super 8 Motel as the Breakfast Bar hostess. Janet got her driver's license in 1980 at the age of 44. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Eagles Auxiliary. Janet enjoyed genealogy, trimming trees on her property, dancing with Bernie at the Eagles Club and spent some time on a bowling team.


Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernie in 2016; brothers, Ralph (Beulah) and Keith (Pye "Delila"); sisters, Jeanne and Mary Agnes; granddaughter, Rececca Lynn Godfrey; sister-in-law, Cindy Cooper; brother-in-law, Dean Goad. 


She is survived by her children, Carol (Michael) Ripple, Larry (Vonnie) Hebblethwaite, Kathy (Craig) Godfrey, Peggy (Robert) Cox, Scott (Sabina) Hebblethwaite; grandchildren, Steven (Traci) Ripple, Jessica (Wayne) Kulhanek, Melissa (Brandon) Naylor, Joseph (Lindsey) Godfrey, Jacob Godfrey, Adam Cox, Elizabeth Cox, Treyton (Britni Bandy) Hebblethwaite, Hayley (Nick) Runquist, Tanner & Tristan Hebblethwaite; great grandchildren, Kaden & Kyla Ripple, Aibree & Emerie Kulhanek, Sarah & Adalynn Monzon, Ava Naylor, Kira Sturm & Lillian Cox, Joselyn Godfrey; sister, Linda Goad; brothers, Jerry (Kay) Cooper and Dennis Cooper.


In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment Fund. Live Streaming of the service and online condolences may be viewed and shared at www.adamsswanson.com.  


Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 14, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Father Sagar will be Celebrant. Rosary will be held at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service. Burial will be held at the Wellfleet Cemetery, Wellfleet, Nebraska. Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 P.M., Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
