My husband Peter and I were both lucky to meet Jan when she visited Amesbury, MA museums before she moved to Portland. She was proud to be descended from our city's hero George McNeil, and contributed to the George McNeil Fund that supports grants through the Amesbury Educational Foundation for civics- related materials and activities, including annual field trips for all 8th graders to participate in Edward Kennedy's Institute for the US Senate in Boston. Jan was an inspiration to all of us who knew her (and Tom) during her years on Cape Cod.

I met Jan at the Barnstable Unitarian Church and she was a part of my small group. Her life long accomplishments were amazing. She spoke of her time in Minneapolis and who she knew in government there. I had just recently moved from Minneapolis so I knew of whom she associate with there. Thanks for your life long service Jan.

I did not know Janet, but I do have deep family roots in Minnesota. I just wanted to say "Thank you for your dedication to women and aging individuals". You have made a difference!
