Janet Lee Horton

Janet Lee Horton, 79, of Sand Springs passed from this life on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at The Gardens Nursing Home, Sapulpa, OK.  She was born on June 16, 1937 in Okmulgee, OK to Harold and Nancy (McIntosh) Rector.  She was a media aide for Tulsa Public schools by trade.  She was of the Baptist faith. She loved quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.  

She is survived by husband, George Horton of the home; son, James Horton of Afton, OK; daughter, Kim Plunkett and husband, Scott of Owasso, OK; and daughter, Dawn Nipps and husband, Rick of Catoosa, OK; 4 grandchildren, Emily Cline and husband, Cameron, Sarah Armbrister and husband, Cody, John Nipps and Audrey Nipps; 1 great-grandchild, Finnley Cline; sister, Sue Ausmus and husband, Dan of Sapulpa, OK; and nephews, Jeremy Montgomery and wife, Sarah and Joe Montgomery and wife, Joya.

She is preceded in death by parents, Harold and Nancy Rector; grandparents, William and Bertha McIntosh and James and Stella Rector; aunt, Sue Stroud; and uncle, Tom Rector.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Foundation Church, 7785 S Highway 97, Sapulpa, OK 74066.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK.
