I am so sorry to hear about Janet's passing. She worked with my father at News and Information Services. She was very nice and a strong presence in that office.

John, so sorry for the sadness you are feeling with life without Janet. I so enjoyed my friendship with Janet back in the day when we worked together, then our paths crossed often and we laughed about how much we liked our VW Pissats. I hope the love of family and friends, and memories help you through this difficult time. Sincerely, Kim Barrett

I am so sorry to hear this news! I only knew Janet from summers in Northern Michigan, but there were many, going back to when she was my babysitter. I will miss our annual chats and occasional snail mail with a newspaper clipping very, very much. Hugs to John and all the Nellis’.

No surprise to learn Janet was engaged in projects and meetings to the end. Not just "busy," but determined and deeply involved. She was an inspiration, My deepest condolences to John and her extended familyl

I worked with Janet at the U-M News Service for many years. She was a strong advocate for local journalism, especially small newspapers. While everyone else was obsessed with The New York Times, Janet wanted coverage in Grand Rapids, Cadillac and Brighton. She was one-of-a-kind.
