Dr. Janet Louise Mitchell

I met Janet when we both were getting our masters of public health at Harvard. We instantly became best buddies. We bonded by shopping together. We had other commonalities. We both attended seven sister colleges; we both chose HBCUs for med school- she was an alumnae of Howard Medical School and I had attended Meharry Medical College. She was powerful, outspoken and shorter than me. After we graduated in 1987 I returned to CDC in the Division of Reproductive Health and she eventually moved...

The Washington family was saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Janet Mitchell. I remember growing up in the projects with her and we were very proud of her accomplishments. May she rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

I am very thankful that God gifted Dr. Janet Mitchell with such desire and mental ability to help others in the field of medicine. Her legacy will live on forever. I
am unable to attend the Memorial Service, however my prayers have been lifted for the Family. I am very
