Janet Royle

New London, NH - Janet Fraser Royle died peacefully surrounded by loved ones in New London, New Hampshire at the age of 81 on July 15th, 2025. Janet was born on February 28, 1944 in New York City, New York to James and Janet Fraser. She graduated from Geneva College with a degree in Speech and received her masters degree from Northeastern University in the field of Speech and Language Pathology. In 1965, she married David Wyman Royle from Lexington, Massachusetts and they were married for sixty wonderful years. After moving to New London, New Hampshire in 1969, Janet began working for the Kearsarge Regional School District as a speech and language pathologist.

Janet's whole world was her family; Gretchen Royle Evans and husband Russell Evans of Brookline, Massachusetts and Ingrid Royle Maclean and husband Matthew Maclean of Glastonbury, Connecticut. Janet's greatest joy in life was spending time with her three grandchildren, Grace Royle Maclean, William Burr Maclean and Charles Fraser Evans. She never passed up an opportunity to play a game, loved traveling with friends and family, and was deeply connected to her community in New London. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of New London, New Hampshire where she served as a youth group leader and deacon, volunteered as a docent at the New London Historical Society, was an active member of the Hilltop Place book club and donated much of her time at the local food pantry.

A celebration of her life is scheduled on August 16th at 11:00 A.M. at The First Baptist Church of New London, New Hampshire with a reception to follow in Cleveland Hall. She wanted her life to be honored by having celebrants wear bright and happy colors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to The Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Heidelberg Lodge #92/Charitable Fund, PO Box 823, New London, NH 03257.

Not sure what to say?

Dear David & Family,
I am so sad to hear of Janet's passing. Although I have been gone from New London for many years we stayed in touch. I remember almost 40 years ago when you two showed up in Annapolis for our wedding reception. You two have always been such a loving and caring and thoughtful couple. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you grapple with the loss of Janet.

David and family,
So very sorry for your loss. Janet was a beautiful, compassionate, and giving woman. She was always there for her students. Take care of each other!
Love, Kathy McGhee Raymond

Janet and I worked together at Kearsarge Elementary school. She was a mentor, coworker, and friend. Janet was a bright light and worked tirelessly for her students. She will be missed by many.

I remember Janet when she worked at Kearsarge at Bradford. She was so positive and fun to be around. She was very supportive of the classroom assistants and support staff. I remember she was always the first to sign up for bringing snacks at the staff gatherings. She made the best herbed popcorn. I ran into her a few years ago at a neighborhood yard sale up in New London and we had a nice visit. Please accept my condolences to you and your family.

David and Family
I am so sorry to hear of Janet’s passing. I had the pleasure of meeting Janet a few times and she had such a sense of humor and seemed to roll with her Husband, David who has a personality larger than life.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all and may god give you the strength to get through this difficult time. I know she will be sincerely missed by many

Big Hugs to all of you

I have great memories of working with Janet in the Kearsarge schools. She was always a joy to work with. Both of her daughters were a joy to have in the class. I consider it an honor to have known her and her family. God bless

In deepest sympathy, at learning of Janet's passing. I worked with her while at the Kearsarge Regional School District. She was a kind, sweet person with adults and children in this setting, willing to share her knowledge, positive comments and encouragement to all. May fond memories sustain family members.
